A Fun Filled Morning of Karate

Quick Draw 12 foot Sparring – Students stand in a hoop 12 feet away from their opponent. Points are awarded based on technique, placement, power, balance and “kime” (finishing). Punches are awarded “jugo” (one point). Kicks to the middle are awarded “wazari” (two points). Head kicks or sweep with scoring technique “ippon” (three points). Eight points or most points in two minutes wins the match!
6 foot Bo Sparring (Advanced Ninjas/Weapons Shoguns Only) – Students stand 6 feet away in a hoop and and strike with 6 foot bo with an opponent. Points are awarded based on technique, placement, power, balance and “kime” (finishing). The first correct technique touching the following targets is awarded Ippon (One Point): Head, Shoulder Blade, Elbow, Wrist, Knee, Ribs, Stomach. Five Points wins the match!
Flag Kata (All Students) – Students perform their favorite kata. The students are scored for memory of the correct movements as well as demonstration of proper timing, power, balance, breathing, and focus. Students may choose from tradition, weapons, or creative kata. Best kata in the round moves on.
Family Sparring Challenge – Students compete again family member in sparring. Winner receives a certificate and family bragging rights!
